WITHOUT DARKNESS THERE CAN BE NO LIGHT

I would like to share an insight with you that means a lot to me personally. I was given this insight a few months ago when I was participating in an online training.
The online training was about how to make your product or service more recognizable for your ideal client. The insight I would like to share with you, is the one that was most valuable to me:
Everything in the world, in the universe, has a dichotomy. It exists of good and bad, north and south, sadness and happiness, black and white, and so on. This picture illustrates this:

yin-yang

Humans are often occupied with “feeling good,” creating a “flow” for ourselves, working on our happiness, wanting to become smarter, and generally just having fun. People are concerned with taking a vacation to a sunny destination and doing the things that feel good. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with this – I love these things as well!
However, we would paint a more honest and complete picture if we recognized that there is another side to this that is just as important.
Because:

“Without darkness there can be no light”

What does this mean for your life and your practice? How can you apply this knowledge and use it to your benefit?
I will tell you how, after showing you this second illustration:

flow

When you are in your flow, you have enough money in the bank, you feel good, your house is tidy, you had a great day with ideal clients – you find yourself at the peak of the graph. The speech bubble will be filled with positive elements.

Everything in the world and in the universe, moves like the line in the graph. With ups and downs. This means many things, but for now I want to focus on two insights that I hope will help you in your practice:

1) If everything is going well, be mindful that there will be another period (a day, a week, a month, a year, or a decade) that will not be as good, or fun, or pleasant. Also, realize that if you are currently in the middle of one of those not-so-great phases, that it will pass, and it will get better! If you accept this, it will help you have faith in your practice and in general. You will know that you don’t have to worry about money, about making ends meet at the end of the month, or about finding enough clients. If you do your thing and invest in your practice, the clients will come. Sometimes there will be more clients than other times. And that’s ok.

2) Face the dark side! If you know that you are facing a not-so-great period regarding “your subject” (less money, heavier in body weight, less clients, less inspiration, and so on) you will be able to recognize this more quickly. Just remember the graph above!

When you are faced with the “negative,” use those moments to work on this side of you. This will allow you to take the power out of the negative and to grow as a person and with your practice!
I will give you a personal example. I’ve gone through periods before (and I still do, although a lot less than before), where my aura felt heavy. I went from being happy one moment to being negative the next moment. I followed the pattern exactly like in the picture! When I realized this, I started working on my ‘dark side’: I started meditating, I did healings, grounded myself, and really looked deep inside of myself. These beautiful things have allowed me to be a lot less negative. This means though, that you will have to face your dark side first, before you can start working on it. And this works!

Here’s to your happiness!

Warm regards,
Erik
