Charge the rate that you’re worth
Okay, this is always a tricky one. Money, money, money. It is what it is. We can’t go around it. Living a comfortable life without money is difficult. We have many opinions about money namely: what it brings about in people; how it dominates our lives; how it is unequally dispersed around the world, that a world without money would look completely different, and so on. The fact remains that money is a part of our lives and that we have to deal with it. I consider this the negative side of money.
Let’s look at the positive side – because there certainly is one! Money ensures that we can evolve, that we can buy food and drinks, that we can enjoy life, that we can take a vacation, that we can give a nice gift to someone close to us, and that (if we have more than enough) we can make a donation to a charity for: planting trees; for finding treatments for scary diseases, and so on. In short: money can be pleasant as well!
Let’s translate this to your practice. The majority of my clients that have an awareness practice are female. Entrepreneurs want to grow, they want to manifest – which is great! Many of my clients have fully developed their sensitive side, their emotional side, and their spiritual side. This sometimes causes them, though, to lose the connection with their entrepreneurial mindset. It doesn’t allow them to strategically think about taking the steps that are required for their business and for their financial picture. This is where many entrepreneurs get stuck; because they don’t have a clear plan, let alone a financial plan!
This is where it all begins: let’s take an honest look at yourself. Have you determined a financial goal for your practice for this year? Do you have an ideal picture in your mind of the amount of money you want to make to ensure you can live the life you want to live? Don’t think of this as a strange, silly, or stupid thing to do – because it’s not! Let’s start by determining for yourself: how much money do I want to make in one year; how much time will this take me; how many clients do I need to coach/train to make this amount of money etc. This is the first step.
The second step is to determine your rate, based on your previous calculation. What should the price for your treatment/service be? You should know the answer to this question: what does one session with you cost?
And this is where it gets interesting. Many of my clients charge between 40 and 60 euro, approximately, per hour for their services. Or 70 euro for 1.5 hours. The 1.5-hour session does not include their introduction and their preparation time. If you re-calculate these prices to “rate per hour” this will leave you with only 35 – 40 euro per hour!
Are you aware of what an average freelancer charges per hour? Well, I can tell you this much: it is more than 40 euro per hour! It is more like 70 to 90 euro per hour! And be mindful of the added value that a consultant will provide. Let me put it this way, it is not nearly as much as you provide to your client on a spiritual level!
Do you see where I’m going with this? We are currently experiencing a time in which the demand for connecting with yourself, searching for your true soul, relaxation, emotion, healing etc. is really high. This means you are allowed to charge the rate you’ve determined! It is time for a change!
I would like to work on all of this together with you. I understand that many of our thoughts and feelings are about our own insecurities. “Am I allowed to stand up for myself and my practice?” and “is the world really eager to find out about my gifts and talents?” The answer is YES!
